While it comes as no surprise to learn that Iran has been attempting to recruit Israelis of Iranian descent as spies -- it would be strange if they did not -- what is puzzling is that fact that, according to Israeli law, Iran is not defined as an enemy country, and Israelis are free to travel there. Never mind Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's nuclear ambitions and calls to wipe Israel off the map, Israelis can go to Turkey, visit the Iranian consulate in Istanbul, and receive a visa to visit Teheran. The Israeli defence establishment is now seeking to change a 1954 law concerning the prevention of infiltration from an enemy country, and have Iran placed on the list of enemy countries specified under this law. So, if you have an Israeli passport, and fancy visiting Iran, now is the time to do it!
